Site launch: Bodyshop Rainforest range

This site is built using the PureMVC framework (AS3.0) and is XML driven to support multiple languages. This is the site I wrote the dynamic text around an ellipse code for, as it is used for the range menu.
It is a great looking site with some nice water and light effects going on in the background.

Site launch: HP Make it big

It has been a while since I have been able to update this blog and in that time I have completed about 5 different sites at multiple agencies. I am going to make an effort to get them all up here, but it has been hard to keep track of what has gone live and what is still being deployed. The first small site that is actually live is HP Make it big.
This is built to support multiple European languages and is driven by XML.

site launch: GE Memorial Day Emissions

I've been a long-time admirer of the work of David McCandless (http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/), and I finally had the chance to build one of his infographics in Flash. The project displays projected CO2 emissions from car journeys on Memorial Day across America. You can choose between 3 region groupings and 3 fuel types. The numbers involved are mind-boggling!

Site launch: Adam&Eve Xmas Countdown

This is a fun 'Flip' Clock that is counting down the days until Xmas.
It is AS3.0 and chooses images randomly from a large set.

Site launch: Production Express

This was an uncomplicated build: an eight-page microsite built using AS3.0 with XML driven data and limited animations.
It came together quickly and I'm happy with the end result.

Site Launch – Fairytale Fights

This is v2 of Fairytale Fights and a more complete and extensive site than v1. It is AS3.0 and XML driven, and uses the GAIA framework. It supports 6 languages and uses video extensively. This game looks like it would be great fun to play and the artwork for the game is brilliant.

Dragging in Papervision 3D – example

UPDATE 29/09/09: This technique is possibly no longer valid with the latest version of Papervision3D.

Here is a small example I put together quickly today to demonstrate how to drag in 3D using Papervision and the InteractiveUtils.getMapCoordAtPointDO3D function.
Since my last post on this in December last year, the Papervision getMapCoordAtPointDO3D method returned object's x and y values seemed to have changed by a factor of 36.

UPDATE 29/09/09: This technique is possibly no longer valid with the latest version of Papervision3D.

AIR application – Transcription Tool (MP3 Player)

Recently I had to transcribe some music for a funk cover band that I play in. Transcribing is much easier when you can loop a section of the track and listen to it over and over. This isn't a feature that any of the media players on my computer have, so I figured I would build an Mp3 player that can do this.

The Transcription Tool enables you to load in a local mp3 file from your library, and then loop all or a selected part of the track. There is an HSlider component with 2 handles (sliders) so that you can choose whichever part of the tune you like.
